Man injured alongside Salman Rushdie in 2022 stabbing attack says he thought it was a prank at first

Introduction
A man, Henry Reese, is facing trial in a knife attack on the teacher literary critic Salman Rushdie at the Chautauqua Institution in New York. During the trial, Reese, age 75, claimed to have seen an uncharacteristic-looking attacker arrive on the stage, but later identified him as not performing a prank but someone approaching.

Reese’s Accomplishments
Reese testified that the attacker, identified as professional tudo, had approached Rushdie from the stage, not as a prank. At least six witnesses were present at the attack, and the event took place on August 20, 2022.

Rushdie’s Background
Rushdie, 77, author of “Midnight’s Children” and “Victory City,” spent years in hiding in Iran after the late Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini’s fatwa in 1989. Federal Indictment
