The meeting comes shortly after federal authorities dropped a corruption case against Adams following allegations of political retaliation for his opposition to a relaxed border policy, which sent hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to New York. Another potential area of collaboration would be reopening an office for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the city’s main jail on Rikers Island, a idea he floated earlier during a previous meeting with Homan. However, Homan is “not happy” with the progress made under Adams’s leadership and wants to see changes implemented right away.
